Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

Chef collection range failure - AGAIN

Frustated chef 10/16/2021

i have a chef collection range with induction. unfortunately i had to have it repair 3 times in the last 4 years and now we have another problem. the broiler element starts randomly burning the food to a crisp and this without the fire risk it poses. i noticed from chat groups that this is a common problem. do you have a fix?

induction heats very fast. best part of the range

Mark 12/8/2020

burners work great. oven bakes unevenly for a convection oven. i thought that was the point of convection. glass cook top recently broke, and have come to find that the top is no longer produced. after searching the web, there is a limited number of tops available, but because of their limited availability, the vendors prices are outrageous! thanks samsung for providing me with a very expensive mediocre oven which i can no longer find the most important part

Do not purchase, fragile and parts are obsolete

Chad83 11/25/2020

the glass cooktop is extremely fragile. (simply look at 1 in 5 reviews). it is just a matter of time before the cooktop cracks. when it does samsung will not cover this under warranty, they will label it as physical damage and their say is final. on top of this the glass part is obsolete and can no longer be purchased, if you can find someone that still has it you will be paying half of what you paid for the oven to fix it. wait a few months and it will be broken again. pictures attached showing the damage. impact point near the edge, but my ikea counter sustained no damage at all. yet this is considered physical damage and not covered. samsung customer service made their decision and that is that.

Fail

macredash 8/10/2020

i have owned this oven for about 5 years now. it has the coolest features, this is the reason i put up with all the failures. first one of the 2 oven convection fan was not working. samsung replaced the main board after 3 service visits. i also have had to put up with the oven temperature drop issues that others have reported. i have to stop and start the oven periodically. this is the only way to force it to hold the set temperature. now the two left induction burners quit detecting pans and will not operate. it is out of warranty, so i am replacing the left induction module myself. the part is not available retail so i had to buy a used one on ebay. fingers crossed.

High on features, low on quality

CyberJoe 7/10/2020

layout and functionality of the induction cooktop are ahead of most others on the market. led "flame" lighting, while cheesy, is actually a nice touch. it's an intuitive way to indicate when a burner is on. and the flex duo oven is the reason we chose samsung. unfortunately, overall construction quality of the rest of the unit is poor. metal components are thin and flimsy. worse yet, the oven is slow to preheat and doesn't maintain set temperatures. it will wander off to a lower temp than what is indicated. every time the door is opened, the oven must be restarted to prompt the oven to maintain the temperature indicated. be prepared for baking disasters.

Love it!

4Leafclover 3/6/2019

I actually bought this almost a year before I was able to use it because I found one and in looking online and it seem like it was going to be difficult to find one. I had researched this extensively I knew exactly what I was looking for. I need to be something that I could afford as well as function without glitches.. I love it. I'm so glad that I got it even knowing that it was a risk because my kitchen was nowhere close to being ready to have it in place. I had an induction cooktop before so I knew that I loved induction cooking-the split oven was something I didn't even think about because I knew I wanted the induction and honestly had kind of forgotten about that feature until I set it up . I love cooking on this-I love how clean it is and I adore the fact that my pots and pans are clean. The oven seems to keep excellent temperature and heats up quickly. I mostly use the bottom oven But it's really cool that I don't have to heat up the whole oven in order to do my normal every day cooking. It roasts my vegetables perfectly-I really honestly can't say enough good things about this. I hope that Samsung continues to make this product as I really believe that it's excellent.I heard researched this extensively

Ovenless and spent over $1800 in less than 4 years

Ovenless 2/13/2019

I bought this oven 4 years ago. Manufacture date is even 2014. In September 2018 the oven temperature when baking would keep rising and I had to turn it off. It burns everything in 10 minutes. I am so disappointed! I will never buy a Samsung again. I called Samsung and was told it was out of warranty and I would have to pay for a technician. I paid for a service call and was told it was either the temp sensors or the board. I should replace both for $498. I'm afraid to spend the money and something else happen or be wrong with it. This should never happen this soon in an appliance costing this much money. I am ovenless and out over $1800. I don't want to put any more money in this and have to buy another oven. It definitely WILL NOT be a Samsung. If anyone has had similar problems please let me know. Samsung Chef Collection Slide in range model NE58H9950WS

Really enjoying...

Kanje 12/25/2018

Have had this over two years now. Love the split oven capability and use the smaller cavity 90% of the time since we are mostly two person house these days. Two slight negatives are that the back burners are a stretch for me, so I am constantly turning on the touch controls by rubbing up against them inadvertently. Also...the learning curve is steeper for some of the items...especially baking. The timer beep is not very loud, but I am accustomed to it now, so usually hear it in time. I love the stove top: fast boiling, fast cooling off of burners, the blue lights let me know if I have the pan on the right burner (or don't!), and it doesn't heat the entire house. Love the warming drawer, split capability, and all the options for cooking/baking.

NOT AS ADVERTISED

LPxFormerChef 4/13/2018

Despite all the Samsung literature that claims that pots/pans will work that are flat on the bottom and magnetic, this is apparently NOT the case. My Vollrath soup pot, that works perfectly well on a portable induction burner does NOT work on my Samsung induction range. Samsung denies that there is a problem (as does Vollrath), but since it works on other induction burners, the issue must be with Samsung. So - TEST YOUR POTS AND PANS PRIOR TO PURCHASING. (PS - my Calphalon works fine.)

Better than gas

R2hule 10/12/2017

Early days, but quite impressive. No fire danger and noxious combustion byproducts. Quick. Intuitive controls. Super easy to clean. Old gas range had contours that collected spills and grease and welded them on. Simple soap and water daily keeps this top looking like new in no time and with no effort. Had been suspicious of the divided oven, but it quickly turned out to be handy. The meat probe works with ease. Marketing: Could never find one in a store to examine before purchase. Lowe's sales rep did not know that this required In-home Sales department for installation. Delivery guys were first to tell us that we had to schedule that. Lowe's demonstrated integrity by absorbing the cost of that and sent a superb installation contractor. Samsung & Lowe's, put these out on the sales floor and educate your sales people about installation. You will sell more. Price is a bit high, but the more you sell the more that should come down. Stop keeping these hidden and nearly impossible to find. Did see a display at Best Buy after we got ours; it sold so quickly that it was gone by the time we were in Best Buy the next week. Love the way that the convection made crisp chicken skin, like a rotisserie. Much of what we have eaten off of this stove tastes better than from old gas range.

Exactly what I was looking for

Jenji 9/11/2017

Purchased this range because my old stove had died. When I picked this up I wanted something that would slide right into the old area, but also was up to the task of being safe with a 3 yr old and 20 month old running around in the kitchen. The wall anchors make the range stable, the lock system for the oven prevents accidents from happening and the knobs have to be pushed in to turn so these are great safety features just wished there was something like that for the warming drawer, they have tested everything else, but squealed in delight to discover this didn't lock. Since they don't go in the kitchen unless I am in there just being vigilant takes care of this issue for the most part. The range part is wonderful with lights that allow me to know when the burners are on and the automatic turn off if the pan is removed is a great feature especially with kids around. This range is also excellent at heating up. I don't actually have to wait longer then ten minutes to get water boiling or the pans to heat up and that is wonderful. The preheating on the oven feature is great as well reaching its full temperature under ten minutes as well is a blessing when I am baking and broiling items.

Paint chipping after only 8 months, customer service not answering

Vanenica 8/8/2017

I was very happy with my range until i noticed the black paint on the black stainless steel range started chipping under the handle. I contacted customer service 2 days ago and i still don't have an answer as to how they are going to fix it. I clean the range front every 2 weeks with cotton towels and water, i do not even use soap as i was afraid it might be too hard on it. so water and that is it. Very cheaply made, do not buy!

This range has an unreliable oven thermostat.

SeattleBaker 11/25/2016

I love the cooktop on this range but have had a lot of difficulty with the oven getting to the right temperature and then holding it. The range has an option to adjust the temperature up to 35 degrees, but I need 50 degrees. So I manually play with the screen temperature and use an external oven thermostat to guide me. As a baker, I'm very unhappy.

Beauty and function

Cookshouse 11/17/2016

I have been wanting an induction range for a long time. This with the convection and or conventional baking functions, really great. The power boost element capacity is ingenious. Faster than a microwave. Cleans easily. The "virtual flame" is a great talking point with guests. It's also a safety feature from my standpoint, since I can clearly see if the element is funcioning properly and if it is "on".. So far, very happy. Samsung seems to have put all the bells and whistles in this model.

Range

Heather16 10/30/2016

So far I like the range and the stove. They both have a learning curve on them we are still working on. The touch screen turns on to easily and does so even during clean up. I do love the stove top, but don't love the arrangement of the burners. They run fairly hot and often times medium is a little too hot. Water heats up in a flash though on high. It does shorten the time span for dinner. Oven preheats quick too (at least a lock quicker than our old oven).

Innovative, but could be better executed

kfergus999 10/8/2016

This is the only unit on the market I could find with induction top and convertible-split oven. Love that part! But paid plenty extra for that feature. Problem is, can not do standard bake in smaller upper oven, only convection, which is not right for biscuits, pizza or many other the dishes. For standard bake, you have to use the bigger, lower oven. The basket-shaped lowest rack in oven has a support bar in the way of sliding dishes in and out and limits the useable depth.; practically unusable. Rack position in upper oven places broiler pan items either 1/2" or 5" from burner; not best broiling. Easy glide rack can only be placed in certain slots and interferes with placing other rack. Not enough standard racks included. And I've only been using it for a few days....

Awedenver 8/16/2016

My wife and I really like our new range. The precision of cooking on the induction top is second to none. Fast to heat up and easy to clean. The dual oven feature with the divider is awesome, cookies and pizza at the same time. Much quicker to preheat this oven compared to our old electric oven. The touch screen controls are thoughtful and quick, the big knobs for the induction burners are a nice touch. Style, performance and function are on par with this range.

The future of cooking

Juwanna 7/12/2016

I cook at least one full meal on this every day. The oven maintains temperature very well and the stove heats up quicker than you can imagine. I was on the fence about induction, especially since nobody carried this model in the local area for me to check out but I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. It is sleek, easy to clean, and outperforms any other cooking method out there.

Kitchen Work Of Art

NCRich 7/7/2016

First, the stove is beautiful, like a work of art for the kitchen. I get excited when I use it. Controls are easy and visible. Induction cooktop is awesome. Temperature control is immediate and infinitely variable. Convection oven cooks even throughout. Have not used in dual oven mode yet, but have no doubt it will work awesome like everything else has thus far. Oven separator easily stores in slot in warming tray. Warming tray makes complete use of every inch of the unit.

We love everything about this range!

Woodshed 6/29/2016

We were a little hesitant about changing to induction so we bought an induction hot plate and used it for a couple of months. After that we were totally sold on the technology and bought the range. The design and features of the range are beautiful and intuitive. The glass top overlays the side counters a little bit for a sleek look that is easily cleaned. The "burners" cook with blazing speed at the high temperatures and ever so gently at the lower temperatures. The controls are easy to operate. The oven divider allows us to have the versatility of a double oven without using up more space. Baking and roasting work equally well. My dishes come out beautifully on both convection and regular modes. It is summer here in the Deep South and using this range does not heat up my kitchen like my old stove did. An extra advantage! I have not used the warming drawer, except to store pot lids. My husband invites friends over to demonstrate the speed of boiling water with only the smallest bit of heat. This is a winner!

I previously had an induction cooktop that we installed after doing a major kitchen renovation after have used both gas and electric ranges. We moved to a new spec home that came equipped with an electric range and standard over, I missed my induction cooktop but the configuration of the kitchen would not allow us to upgrade, but the 30" slide-in Samsung was just the ticket, it fit perfectly and not only allowed me to have my induction cooking surface it also gave me a bonus with the Duo-flex true convection oven. Layout of the burners on the cooking surface is perfect and the ability to accommodate various pan sizes is fantastic. Temperature control is move precise than you typically can achieve with a gas range, and even heating allows me to make pancakes for the grandkids that are perfect each and every time. The only trick is you have to have good quality pots and pans, but you will not be disappointed with this induction range and the duo-flex convection oven

Super Fast and Efficient

Jennrosa0105 6/1/2016

This range is super responsive no matter which function is used! The oven heats up in about half the time than our old one! Also, the cooktop has quick and precise heat which cools off very quickly when turned off. We love this Samsung range!

Partitioned double oven very practical

razoredger 5/16/2016

I got this as a workaround for an induction cooktop and built-in oven. The induction cooktop works as expected, except that an essential feature is missing : a cooking timer for burners! The ovens work as expected. The chef bake function is useful for traditional bread baking. I like the healthy cook programs for roasting chicken and fish. The precook feature is practical to know when the oven is ready. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

Amazing Appliance

Hoodu 5/10/2016

So far we love this range. We are really surprised at how fast water boils and how great having two oven zones is. Pricey unit that requires induction compatible cookware but well worth the switch.

We love this range!

We've wanted an induction range for quite some time and this fit the bill. We love the front controls and the convertible oven. Cooking is quicker with the induction top and there is less mess and nothing will burn to the top.

Sweet Range

jamesewing 4/26/2016

I just got this range so am still trying out the features but what I've found so far I'm very pleased with. First the build quality is outstanding. I replaced a older range with the Samsung and the Samsung is head-and-shoulders better built. Better metal, better thought out rear panel connections and much sturdier. Only downside is that assembly requires a strain relief for the electrical cord which is not provided. Performance is amazing. On Boost mode water boils much faster than a dedicated electric kettle, even without a lid on the pot. Weird design feature #1: the range goes into boost mode only when turning the knob from Off to High/Boost directly. If you go the other way, you end up at High which is a "9" on the display. Weird design feature #2: Boost mode is indicated by a "P" on the display. If you miss the "Boost" position you end up at "8" and have to turn the knob to "Off" and start again. The burners have a less-than perfect layout which causes some crowding in the rear and limits space in the middle for a spoon rest, that could have been better thought out, The oven is lightning fast. You can watch the temperature increase it's so fast. Haven't baked yet so can't tell out-of-the-box accuracy but the temperature can be calibrated in setup. The control panel is well thought out (except for the non-standard "0" position on the numeric keypad). The oven senses when the splitter is in place and goes into dual-oven mode. The glide-out shelf is a nice feature and there's a recessed basket shelf for roasting something very large. In addition there's also a standard shelf. The control panel turns on when you press a button or open the oven. It turns off after a period of time but it would be nice to have an off button as well. All in all I think this is a first rate product, better than the competition, with just a few minor design issues.

Great features

LuvMyRange2 4/13/2016

After several months of researching numerous Induction Ranges, with a variable smorgasbord of features/options, this unit kept floating to the top of my 1st. choice list. Incredibly, it has not only meant my expectations but has far exceeded them as well in features and usability. I have found it so "user-friendly" that I have yet to find need for the user's manual. For me, if 100% equals total satisfaction, put me down for 125%.

Cooking has come to a new level....

Luvvvvtocook 2/19/2016

I recently renovated my kitchen. I liked the benefits of cooking with gas, and the "look" of a gas range, but was not keen on installing gas. I would highly recommend the Samsung Chef Collection slide in induction range, not only for its visual appeal, but most important its performance! It is a well designed product, very user-friendly and intuitive. I did not realize how much I would use the dual oven with two temperature controls as well as the two timers. The Chef Bake makes every baked good come out to perfection. Cooking has reached a whole new level with this range.

Not a Good Choice

FloridaFamilyof6 12/20/2015

I bought this stove to replace a 13 year old builder's model. I did a lot of research to find out the features I wanted. I decided that convection and induction were on my list as well as a slide in model. I also wanted a bridge but at the time I bought this stove, last February, there wasn't one available. After quite a bit of research to find a stove with good ratings, I decided on this Samsung. My first one had numerous problems. The large burner didn't work, the oven wouldn't heat to the correct temperature and it didn't hold the temperature either. The lock feature on the front panel didn't work well and we were unable to clean the oven due to a malfunction with the door lock. The customer service at Samsung was tops. So was the service tech that came out. Unfortunately, after replacing every replaceable part on the stove, it was deemed unfixable. Samsung arranged to either give me a full refund or replace the stove. I opted to replace it since this was the only stove that had these features that had good reviews. Bad decision. While the oven now works, the large burner still doesn't work right. Only pans bigger than 8.5 inches will work (Samsung says they have to be a minimum of 7.75 inches, I think). Pans need to be set towards the back of the burner. The position of the pan on the large burner is set too far back from the front of the stove. When using a taller pan it is difficult to stir because the placement puts it under the microwave oven or over the stove cabinet. Seeing as this is the large burner and therefore the most commonly used, this is not a good. On the plus side, Samsung customer service is tops. They were very easy to work with and called me several times just to make sure that the return process was going well. The stove is beautiful. The top cleans easily. Messes wipe right off. Not like my old smooth top stove. The slide out shelf is a neat feature when cooking larger/heavier items. I'm still undecided about the dividing shelf for the oven. It seems that when the oven is divided, the two ovens are kind of small to cook anything large.

great range

Tif41 3/23/2015

Just love the new Samsung Induction stove I now own. Used to think that there was nothing better than owning a gas stove, but boy I sure was wrong. This stove will outdo and outcook and outperform and outbake any gas stove on the planet, bar none. This stove brings "fast food" (cooked at home, of course) to another level. Don't need to wait forever for water to boil, or veggies to cook, nor meat to fry. It all happens to fast and at a much much lower temperature than I was accustomed to on my (now replaced) solid surface electric stove. Another welcome feature is that the oven temperature is always accurate so that I no longer require an oven thermometer. Everything bakes better in this oven versus my old replaced stove. Thanks. Plus the design is just superb. I call it my Mercedes Benz stove. Love the warming drawer, the bread proof feature and the ability to insert a divider and then have 2 ovens to work with. Love the "pull out" oven rack. Haven't used the "Healthy Cook" feature nor the "Steam Clean" feature, but I'm sure they'll be great as well. Seems a lot of thought went into the design of this stove. The only complaint I have and really it's a sizable complaint: The timer/oven ready alarm (if you can call it that) is practically inaudible. If one is not right close by the stove you'd never hear it. What gives with that? Other than that glitch in the design, I think Samsung built/designed a superior cooking/baking appliance and would recommend this induction stove to anyone contemplating replacing their existing electric stove.
